Jenny backs BikeSafe scheme
Jenny has given her backing to a scheme to reduce the number of motorcycle deaths and injuries.
The British Supersport Cup Championship competitor Jenny Tinmouth is supporting the national police initiative BikeSafe, along with the Cheshire Safer Roads Partnership (CSRP).
Aimed at full licence holders and working closely with the biking industry, the scheme encourages the public to become safer and more competent motorcyclists through police riders passing on their advanced knowledge, skills and experience.
Jenny said: “The skills I have learned on the race track can give me the edge in potentially difficult situations and I believe that all riders must continually develop their skills to ensure that we reduce the numbers of killed and seriously injured on the roads.
“BikeSafe is an important initiative because it promotes lifetime learning and bridges that gap between your initial training before going onto more advanced rider instruction.
“By working with the BikeSafe team, I’ll be able to pass on some of my experience to riders – helping them to learn new skills, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and ride in a responsible and safe way.”
Sgt Rick Weaver, senior motorbike instructor at Cheshire Constabulary, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Jenny, who’ll be joining us on some of the BikeSafe dates. Together with our Bikesafe assessors, she’ll be able to provide attendees with an insight into the skills she has learned as one of the top female bikers in the country.”
CSRP will be sponsoring Jenny throughout the 2010 season as she looks to retain her crown as Britain’s fastest female rider.

Jenny and her race Team are delighted to have the support from Bikesafe during her 2010 racing campaign, speaking afterwards Jenny said “I think its fantastic that Bikesafe have chosen me to help promote and support their campaign, motorcycle road safety is something that is very important to me I have come off on the road myself and had numerous cars pull out on me, I am a biker through and through and I have been aware of an increased prejudice towards bikers on the roads brought about purely by accident statistics and a drive to improve these by, in many respects, unfairly targeting bikers, but if we as a biking community can keep ourselves safe on the roads whether that be by our own improved riding, skills and knowledge, or by improving awareness to all road users then that can only be a good thing. If we can improve our own accident statistics on the roads then that will be good for us and the biking community as a whole”
